De La Swing – No Rules 2016 Review

De La Swing, also known as Domingo Bellot is indefinitely a musical mastermind of our time. A regular resident for Elrow, continuous collaborations with top international DJs such as Laurent Garnier, Adam Beyer and Dubfire, and on top of that, he began his career at the young age of just 16 years old. Influenced by techno and drum and bass, De La Swing hit the point of his prolific career when taking the regular stand at the decks for iconic festivals such as Eastern Electrics, Monegros and he will also be playing at Annie Mac’s Lost and Found Festival in Malta in 2017. De La Swing continues to explore the light and dark essence of progressive house, creating a unique depiction of his image in the underground industry forevermore.

A speciality of De La Swing is undeniably hard techno and acid house, an aspect of his music, which is a special addition to his flair for creativity and the underground. Particularly in his 2013 single In The Middle Of Nowhere, the track immediately strides into the present, locking us into a pulsating, electrifying beat. There are wispy and sultry undertones, which creep into the synchronisation, colliding with a loop-de-loop string of rhythm. Moreover, Kiss My Groove released later on in 2013, effectively lures us into his spiritual realm, building up to the ultimate musical satisfaction. What more can we expect from an Elrow resident? The track is captivating, whilst keeping the steady, secure, beat in tact, we are moving in time with the beat, hungry for more. De La Swing sets the elusive boundaries of the music spectrum, utterly bringing house music to life.

No Rules (2016) is nothing like De La Swing has ever done before. It enforces the Elrow stigmata, delving into a further touch of groove. The background vocals combined with the coos from the birds of the rainforest brings forth a aboriginal jungle vibe. He pulls out all the stops, whilst merging both male and female vocals with animalist undertones. Combined with the continual thriving beat, our bodies simultaneously funk to the music. De La Swing channels his forward thinking brilliance through the pivotal drop. I’ve heard this track a fair amount of times at the last two Elrow events I’ve attended and each time it completely professes its artistry. The crowd goes wild and almost becomes spell bound in a vivid illusion. De La Swing uses his talented ability to seduce the crowd to the enchantment of his music.

De La Swing explores post modernity through the expression entwined between the rhyme and beats of his tracks. There is a sense of dark lustre in his music, conjuring the formidable intensity that lingers in the shadows of music. Perpetual in its own right, we are left to question the essence behind its sinister tone. This, is what allows De La Swing to be branded unique to his parallel peers.
